OMAN OIL MARKETING COMPANY PARTNERS WITH TANFEEDH

Muscat, November 9th 2016 – As part of its long-standing commitment to support the Sultanate’s development, Oman Oil Marketing Company partnered with Tanfeedh, the national program for enhancing economic diversification. Regarded as a key component of the 9th five-year development plan, the event united policymakers from the public and private sectors for six-weeks of intensive discussion, strategic proposals, and collaborative efforts designed to drive the continued growth of Oman’s economy.

Designed to identify challenges and obstacles facing government sectors and the civil community, Tanfeedh was launched to develop an in-depth roadmap for Oman’s economic future. The program focuses on implementing the objectives of the ninth five-year plan (2016-2020) which calls for oil’s contribution to the GDP to decrease to 26 per cent. Multiple sectors have been highlighted during the event, including manufacturing, transport and logistics, tourism, fisheries and mining. Comprised of six-weeks of workshops called ‘labs’, 300 people ranging from high-ranking ministers to private sector representatives and led by officials from Malaysia's Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU).
