Omanoil goes dark for earth hour to conserve the planet

Muscat, April 1st 2012 - In solidarity with the world’s largest voluntary action ever witnessed, Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) went dark for Earth Hour 2012, switching off lights at the head office. The company united with over 130 countries and 1.8 billion people worldwide for Earth Hour, a global movement to protect the planet by campaigning to reduce energy consumption for environment preservation.

Adorned with glow sticks, omanoil’s staff hosted a lantern-lit dinner to observe the 60 minute vigil from 8.30pm on the 31st of March. Leading by example, the company joined Earth Hour as a platform to showcase the commitment to reducing their carbon-footprint by continuously implementing eco-conscious and proactive measures.

On the occasion, omanoil’s General Manager of Operations, Engineering and HSSE, Faisal Al Shanfari, expressed hopes of going beyond the hour by creating a chain that begins with one person performing the simple task of switching off unessential electrical outlets.

omanoil’s contributions to the industry are realized with the philosophy that people can come together to achieve a common goal. The company is fostering this concept amongst their customers to preserve the environment for future generations.
