OMANOIL promotes healthy living with internal anti-smoking campaign

As part of its ‘I Promise’ health awareness program, Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) has launched an internal anti-smoking campaign designed to encourage kicking the habit for a healthier life. This latest initiative stems from omanoil’s commitment to employee wellbeing to drive personal and professional growth, while promoting a health-conscious culture.

Engr. Faisal Al Shanfari, omanoil General Manager of Human Resources, Administration, Corporate Affairs, Procurement and HSSE said, “We care about our employees’ health as we would our own family members and believe that with the help of a support group, unhealthy habits can be discouraged and lifestyles can be altered for the better.”

Throughout the campaign, omanoil aims to educate its employees about the side effects of smoking as well as steps and tips on how to quit. “It is never too late to start taking responsibility for your health as research shows that once a smoker quits, benefits are visible within a few hours and last a lifetime. In a week, sense of smell and taste improves, lungs regain the ability to clean themselves in 12 weeks and in 12 months, the risk of heart disease halves,” said Engr. Al Shanfari.

‘I Promise’ was launched in 2012 and has guided numerous employees to take the first steps towards healthy living. Annually, omanoil screens the health of its employees and personalized assessments are shared on how to best alter diet and lifestyle in an effort to improve quality of life. Throughout the year, omanoil also launches focused campaigns to further educate and inspire employees to become better versions of themselves.
