Omanoil Partners With Rekaaz To Campaign Against Peer Pressure

Muscat, March 20th 2012 –Aiming to instill principles of moral social behavior, Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) has partnered with Rekaaz, a non-profit organisation operating in the Arab world, to launch a three-month awareness campaign under the theme "Your friends make you who you are".

Rekaaz is a motivational foundation which carries out awareness campaigns intended to reinforce moral values among the youth. omanoil\'s collaboration stems from the company\'s commitment to engaging the local community and empowering the Omani population by addressing socio-behavioural concerns.

This year, the project fights against peer pressure while encouraging virtuous social mores. Conforming to peer pressure limits an individual\'s potential in life as it confines opinions and freedom of creativity, affecting the future generations\' career and personal development.

"At omanoil, we pioneer programs that create a generation of agents of change by cultivating principles that make up the fabric of social development," said Nabeel Al Ruwaidhi, General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Business Development and Procurement. "We are investing in the future of the Omani people by leaving behind a positive legacy of responsible and ethical social behavior."

He continued, "In our 3rd year of partnership with Rekaaz, we aim to inspire the youth with our corporate values of individuality, self-respect and confidence. The significance of protecting one\'s individuality should not be burdened by peer pressures."

In its 13th phase, Rekaaz achieves its goals by distributing educational and motivational materials including flyers, brochures and CDs to a number of popular public locations, building on its previous efforts which covered a number of youth-related issues. Seminars will be held over the next three months at local schools, colleges, universities and shopping malls. With over 250 volunteers and vast geographical outreach, the campaign will cover Muscat, South Batinah and Salalah.
