Omanoil Stages Novel Youth Development Program For Staff Children

Muscat, July 2011

More than 87 aspiring leaders between the ages of four and eighteen graduated from Oman Oil Marketing Company’s debut Summer School Program, a novel youth engagement platform designed to yield greater levels of confidence, motivation and self esteem amongst children of staff.

Over the course of two weeks, children were divided into three age groups and were acquainted with the rich omanoil history and core values in addition to best international HSSE practices adopted by the company and key industry insights. Learning and life skill lessons were intertwined throughout the program, focusing on personal finance management and investment, self-respect, responsibility, character direction, interpersonal development and career path selection. Furthermore, a session was presented by Rekaaz on ways of enhancing moral values. Sports and an exciting plethora of fun activities were also organized.

“The carefully orchestrated program conceptualized and staffed by our very own employees was undoubtedly an enriching experience for the children, inspiring them to make a positive impact today regardless of age,” expressed Mohammed Amor Al Barwani, General Manager HR, Admin, IT & System Optimization at omanoil. “Our business enables us to touch the lives of many and we wanted to not only instill a sense of pride in what we do but also provide an outlet for creative expression and engender the values that we hold dear, all harnessed within a modern learning environment.”

Al Barwani explained, “At omanoil, we foster a culture of success and believe that it is our responsibility to share this philosophy with children who will be the leaders of tomorrow by imparting valuable guidance and knowledge from our talented pool of staff who define the very essence of this organization.”

The program also entailed a field visit to Al Wisal FM where the children were introduced to the intricacies of radio. In addition, they were provided the opportunity to host and edit radio programs under the supervision of professionals.
