Basma partners unite to enhance National Outreach and Diversify program benefits

Leading retailers across the Sultanate gathered in unison at the Crowne Plaza Hotel to exchange key insights on Oman’s first chip based multi-partner rewards program pioneered by Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) and BankMuscat. The innovative basmaRewards Program provides cardholders instant rewards and a wide range of shopping benefits.

The gathering brought about colorful discussions on means to further provide value added privileges to cardholders in light of the upcoming exciting developments and mass redemption campaign expected to launch in April.

To date, more than 80,000 cardholders and 151merchants have enrolled in the program attesting to the success of the loyalty card and its popularity amongst the residents of Oman. Additional partners and merchants continue to join the Program from a wide array of sectors including automotive, grooming, hospitality, tourism, photography, healthcare, fashion and beauty, jewelry, accessories and electronics amongst other service providers.

“In its fifth year, basma has revolutionized the concept of loyalty programs in the Sultanate and has built a growing number of successful partnerships with local merchants to diversify product and service offerings to reward cardholders while contributing to the development of a cashless society,” expressed Srinivas Laxman, Country Manager for Fuel Cards at omanoil. “We are continuously exploring new avenues of cooperation to enhance the mechanics of the program and national outreach to introduce new innovations that will only add more valuable savings and exciting benefits to their everyday lives.”

The basma program enables cardholders to ‘save as they spend’ by accumulating basmaPoints with every Omani Rial spent at any of the partner outlets irrespective of the mode of payment. Cardholders making payments using BankMuscat credit cards will also earn additional reward points over and above the points issued by the participating outlets.

Through the use of the latest smart-chip technology, cardholders can instantly redeem points and make full or partial payments for any purchases from omanoil Filling Stations, Lulu Hypermarkets and department stores across the Sultanate. Users can also participate in exciting promotions to make the best out of special offers available throughout the year.

In addition, the Card can be utilized as a pre-paid fuel card allowing customers to budget fuel expenditure whilst saving basmaPoints. With focus on security and user’s privacy, each card has a secure Personal Identification Number (PIN) to prevent unauthorized use in case it is lost or stolen.

The extensive roster of merchants include: omanoil, Lulu, Mumtaz Mahal, Woodlands, Golden Oryx, Capital Stores, Damas, Zahara Travel, Avis, Easy Life, Ajmal, OHI Electronics, Welcare, Photocenter, Essence Spa, Ayana Spa and Bait Al Attar Al Arabi.
