Summer indoor football tournament kicks off at omanoil Football School Wadi Al Kabir - June 09

In association with Muscat Club and E-Sports Dubai, Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil), the nation’s visionary fuels and lubricants marketing company, recently launched the Summer Indoor Football Tournament at omanoil Football School’s Muscat Club sports facilities in Wadi Al Kabir.

The one month summer tournament is part of the popular and long standing omanoil Football School which is the one of the most sought after recreational programs for youths; providing prospective players with the opportunity to learn and enhance their football skills in a fun, exciting and nurturing environment.

On the occasion, Nabeel Al Ruwaidhi, General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Business Development & Planning at omanoil said, “The Indoor Football Tournament is part of our ongoing efforts to support young talents and Omani youths providing them with an exceptional platform for developing their skills and making use of their free time during the summer period. At omanoil Football School, we believe in honing individual abilities and we are committed to offering the best in professional and international training.”

Sheikh Khalid Al Wahaibi, President of Muscat Football Club added, “In the last few years, we have had a prosperous and productive partnership with omanoil that has lead to the tremendous success of omanoil Football School’s program, and together, we have watched a large number of students from across the country take their skills and capabilities to a multitude of professional football disciplines and levels.”

In recognition of the players’ efforts, the tournament will conclude with a final match and prize distribution ceremony, where winning and outstanding teams will receive numerous exciting gifts, as well as individual scholarship opportunities into the upcoming omanoil Football School season, which runs for the majority of the year and resumes in September 2009.

The Summer Indoor Football Tournament, which will be held at Muscat Club in Wadi Al Kabir, will run for one month from July 1st 2009 and is open to children and youths aged 11 to 17 years. Participants may enter the tournament individually or as 10 member teams, encouraging team work and collective participation during the summer season. In addition, participants can submit their application forms directly to Muscat Club or by contacting representatives from omanoil Football school for registration and further assistance.

As a devoted supporter of youth and sports development, omanoil has pioneered several initiatives in the Sultanate that reflect its core values of being young and energetic, most notably with the Ministry of Sports Affairs for The Summer of Sports Program 2008 and the omanoil Football School (OFS) which is a product of a long-term alliance between Muscat Football Club and E-Sports Dubai. The Company also sponsored the National Basketball Tournament 2008 and plays a role as the main sponsor of the annual Muscat Community Football League (MCFL).
