OOMCO celebrates ISO
9001:2000 Recertification

Mina Al Fahal, the
Joint Venture terminal operated by Oman Oil
Marketing Company (OOMCO) is proud to announce
their milestone achievement on being awarded the
BVQI Quality Assurance Certificate ISO 9001:2000
on its Operation of the Fuel Storage and
Distribution Terminal.
The importance of this certificate reinforces
OOMCO’s policy to consistently provide products
and services that meet the need and expectations
of their customers. Aligning with BVQI, OOMCO
agree that focusing on quality makes for a
leaner, fitter organization and one that is
better equipped to win new opportunities in an
increasingly competitive marketplace.
Importantly, ISO 9001 demonstrates to the public
OOMCO’s commitment to quality and provides a
benchmark to enable the Company to measure
progress towards continual improvement of
business performance.
In terms of a quality policy, OOMCO is committed
to complying with the requirements set out by
BVQI and will continually strive to improve the
effectiveness of their quality management
system. A system such as this requires
cooperation from the very top of the
organisation to ensure effective planning and
communication to all divisions within the
Company
ISO 9001:2000 is based on eight quality
management principles, customer focus,
leadership, involvement of people, process
approach, system approach to management,
continual improvement, fact based decision
making and mutually beneficial supplier
relationships. All of which are fundamental to
good business practice and when fully adopted,
these principles can help improve organizational
performance.
A series of internal audits conducted at planned
intervals enabled the certification body and
OOMCO to determine the standard of quality
management throughout the organization and
whether it was being effectively implemented and
maintained.
Praising those involved, Hamed Barwani,
Operations Manager said, “This has been a team
effort. I would like to extend my sincere thanks
to the hard work from everyone at the terminal
who have contributed in particularly, OOMCO’s
well trained internal auditors, our HSE Manager
and our Managing Director.”
Receiving the certificate from Vaughan Bagnall
of United Management Services LLC, accredited
auditors of BVQI were representatives of OOMCO
who contributed to the achievement, Mike Wilson,
Managing Director, Hamed Barwani, Terminal
Operations Manager and Naresh Sujan, HSE
Manager, Rashid Mhedhery and Bovikan Gajanan
OOMCO Internal Auditors.
Confirming the importance of the
re-certification, Mike Wilson said,”Successful
companies are those driven by quality. Quality
must flow throughout the organisation from the
way we operate, to the customer service
standards we set and the products we deliver.
This recertification is a clear demonstration of
our pledge to our employees and to our
customers.”
